Chin Augmentation

Chin Augmentation is a procedure done to increase the projection and angle of the chin in proportion to the rest of the face with Hyaluronic Acid fillers.

Many clients have complaints of a recessed chin or a neck that seems to appear to have “excess chin fat.”  Chin Augmentation can bring balance and proportion to the face in these instances by lifting the neck as well as treating the marionette lines (aka jowls). It can also create an illusion of the nose appearing smaller as proportions of the face are improved.

Julie takes all things into account when she is assessing a patient for chin augmentation.

She will provide a unique treatment plan for the patient according to their gender and structural anatomy while discussing all the available options for the best result possible.

Men typically appear as attractive with a square appearance to the chin and sharp corners. Women, on the other hand, want a more rounded feminine appearance to elongate their face. Julie will cater these guidelines to a patients desires to achieve the perfect treatment plan and aesthetic result.

This treatment is minimally invasive and has little to no downtime. Julie also can use Neuromodulators to decrease the chins movement depending on the patient’s desires. Neuromodulators relax the muscle that pulls on the skin from the inside. This muscle causes the “orange peel” dimpling of the chin. With a small amount of neuromodulator, irregularities disappear, and the result combined with HA filler is flawless.

The Chin Augmentation procedure typically lasts between 1.5-5 years, depending on the patient and the amount of HA injected.

Before the treatment

Before the treatment, you will get a consultation with Julie. This consultation is free of charge and without obligation. During your meeting, she will discuss the various treatment options, and you will meet the doctor for a possible prescription. It is essential to Julie that she is thorough in covering the medical risks/benefits with each treatment for patients. She will cover your medical history, previous treatments, and any use of medication in regards to the safety in the treatment plan. At this time during the consult, Julie will review client expectations and desires. Procedure planning is discussed, as well as what to expect post-procedure.

After the treatment

Patients can expect to feel tenderness in the chin area for the next few days. Swelling is also common and usually will resolve within 2-3 days. Swelling typically is unnoticeable to others. However, a patient might notice it for the first day or two. Please note, swelling can last up to two weeks depending on product selection.  If swelling persists, patients are advised to take a non-drowsy antihistamine. Cold compresses are also used post-procedure to bring down any swelling and tenderness. Bruises can be expected sometimes and typically resolve within 2-7 days.
